If you've never been to Kununurra before, prepare to be amazed and delighted!

We've put together a 7-day itinerary that covers all the must-dos, from sunset river cruises, scenic flights, diamond mines, spring-fed pools you'll leave ready to come back and do it all again!


Day 1 - Sunset Cruise on the Ord River

Arrive at Kununurra Country Club Resort, where one of our friendly staff members will check you into your room. Once settled, make your way to our onsite restaurant - Kelly's Bar & Grill - and enjoy lunch served from the pool view bar and deck. You'll have an hour or two to relax by the pool before you're picked up for your sunset tour on Lake Kununurra.

At 3:15 PM, Kununurra Cruises will pick you up from your accommodation and begin the tour to Ord River. Once aboard the vessel, you will want to have your camera handy for the beautiful scenery you will witness!

The boat will cruise through Lily Creek before making its way to Lake Kununurra. You will get up close to the famous Sleeping Buddha, otherwise known as Elephant Rock, before the boat heads to Diversion Dam to catch a magical sunset.

There's everything on board to make you feel comfortable and relaxed - including a licensed bar! Nibbles, wild-caught saltwater Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon, steak, salads, dessert, and informative commentary throughout the cruise are all included in this magical sunset cruise.

Day 2 - Bungle Bungle Flight and Cathedral Gorge & Domes Guided Walk

We hope you got a good sleep because day 2 is action-packed and begins at 9 AM. The adventure starts with a flight over the Bungle Bungles, before landing within Purnululu National Park.

The airplane will touch down at the secluded Bellburn Airstrip where you will be greeted by your tour guide and picked up in an air-conditioned 4WD and taken to the Domes Walk. The walk is approximately 3km and takes you through the famous beehive-shaped domes of the Bungle Bungles before passing through Cathedral Gorge. You will enjoy a picnic lunch before having some time to explore. If you're lucky enough to visit in the wet season, you can witness Piccaninny Creek flowing in all its glory!

The return flight will take you over some epic views of Argyle Diamond Mine, home to some very rare pink diamonds, before landing back in Kununurra around 5 PM, where you can refresh before enjoying dinner at our onsite restaurant - Kelly's Bar & Grill.


Day 3 - Mitchell Falls Flight and Walk

Day 3 takes you on a beautiful scenic flight over El Questro and Drysdale River National Park before landing at the Mitchell Plateau airstrip.

Once you land at the Mitchell Plateau airstrip, you will marvel as a helicopter takes you over the impressive Mitchell Falls!

After the helicopter flight touches down, you can begin a self-guided walk, followed by a swim and morning tea at the falls.

On the return flight back to Kununurra, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Kimberley region, including King George Falls and the Cambridge Gulf.


Day 4 - Jaliwang Journey

If you thought you'd seen it all, get ready for the ultimate air, land and sea journey.

Taking off at 7 AM via a light aircraft from Kununurra, the Jaliwang Journey tour will guide you over magnificent views of the Sandalwood plantations; the glorious Ragged Ranges and Argyle Diamond's mine site at Matso Range.

After viewing it from above on your flight on day 2, you will get to explore and walk around the Argyle Diamond Mine. Argyle is the fourth-largest diamond producer in the world by volume, onsite you will witness some of the largest diamonds ever extracted along with a gourmet picnic lunch.

In the afternoon, enjoy a sunset cruise across Lake Argyle. Enjoy a scenic sunset swim or stay onboard sipping a cold beverage and taking in all the beauty.

The tour will have you arriving back at the resort at 7 PM, sit back, reminisce on your day and order in from Kelly's Bar & Grill.


Day 5 - Sunset Magic Cruise Ex Kununurra

Up and at em' early again!

Liaise with the helpful team at Kununurra Country Club Resort to assist you in hiring a 4WD for the next two days.

Drive 30 minutes to the iconic Black Rock Falls, where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in a pristine Kimberley water hole. A fun fact, the spring-fed pools around Kununurra are renowned for their fertility powers.

Arrive back at the resort and freshen up before your driver from Sunset Magic Cruise picks you up at 1 PM.

This cruise transports you 70kms from Kununurra to the beautiful Lake Argyle, where you will navigate through the lake's 90 islands and inlets and encounter Rock Wallabies, Crocodiles, Wallaroos (Euros) and the diverse array of birdlife.

Sit back with a drink, learn about the natural history of Lake Argyle and catch the last golden rays of the Kimberly sun.

Head back to the resort and organise a complimentary airport transfer for your departure on day 7.

Refresh and head out to dinner PumpHouse restaurant and bar.


Day 6 - Local hotspots


Rise and shine because you do not want to miss out on this beauty.

Awake at 5.30 AM and drive just a short distance to the Hidden Valley Mirima National Park.

Often referred to as a mini Bungle Bungle range, watch the sunrise and marvel at the broken walls of colourful layered rocks that come alive as they reflect the tones of changing light.

Head back to the resort for a quick freshen-up.

Drive to Cornerside Cafe, the hotspot that specialises in great coffee and modern Australian brunch.

After your stomach is full, drive to Waringarri Aboriginal Art. The gallery was one of the first wholly indigenous-owned art centres in the Kimberley and celebrates the uniqueness of the Miriwoong cultural identity.

At 2 PM, arrive at Hoochery Distillery, WA's oldest continually operating legal distillery. Enjoy a private tour and enjoy a tasting of award-winning rum.

On the drive back to the resort, visit the beautiful The Sandalwood Shop, with a range of sustainable beauty, health and lifestyle products made with sandalwood oil.

Drop your 4WD back at the resort and after a hectic day, indulge with a dip in the pool.

Make your way to Kelly's Bar & Grill for dinner and mingle with the other travellers.



Day 7 - Ord River Discoverer


What's your last day on vacation without a little adventure?

Be ready to be picked up at 9 AM by Triple J Tours.

After boarding the Marina, you will be taken for a ride on a fast-boat cruise. Hold on tight as you witness once again the beautiful scenery, wildlife, flora, fauna and probably another Crocodile!

If your heart is racing a little from all that excitement, take a moment and explore Triple J Tours' Riverside Camp and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch.

The coach will drive you across the Ord Top Damn, for one more heart-stopping moment.

And then there's one last pitstop at the historic Durack Homestead Museum.

Arrive back at the resort at 3.30 PM and make a quick stop at the resort's gift shop. Pick up your loved ones something special with a range of souvenirs and art from local suppliers on offer.

Your shuttle will arrive and take you to the airport.
